First week back in action

This first week of 2006 is, I hope, the real beginning of the recovery process. Tuesday was a miserable day at the YMCA. I started with 8 minutes of swimming and I thought there was no way I could do more. The workout that followed was not all that great either. On the machine where I have to push weight, my right arm gave up after 8 reps, when the target is supposed to be 20.
Wednesday, yesterday, was a lot better. I managed to put in 560 yards of swimming in 24 minutes, which is 52 secondes per length. Mike told me he does 45 seconds per length, but over more than 100 laps. On the weight push, I did 15 reps. Overall, I was quite happy with the workout.
Today, I went out for a little more than 1 hours and did 17 miles. My heart rate was 145 and the average speed 13.9, which is a little better than Saturday's ride. I hope this coming Saturday will continue to show improvement. I can already see the Tour de France cyclotourist looming over the horizon and I need to train as efficently as I can to be ready. I have restarted yesterday with CTS and I hope this will speed up my getting back in shape.
